hi all
first off - somewhat delayed - but as some of you know I was working away, on nights, all over Christmas and was not due home until New year's eve.
Thanks to my lovely family - we still celebrated it as enthusiastically as ever and combined my coming home, Christmas and welcoming in the New year all in one!..
so to all of them and all of you - though late it may be - I wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year and best wishes for whatever 2014 brings.!
and so to my card..
A very simple thank you card - using to my mind, a winter themed embossing folder - Northern Flurry - and as such I thought I could justly enter it into the current Less Is More challenge 'Winter Blues' where they want to see cards in shades of blue...
what do you think.?
Its just one layer of embossed, and stamped whisper white card stock, sponged around the edges to add an additional bit of the all important blue colour, mounted on yet more blue coloured card stock.
I opted to colour the embossing folder with Pool Party using my sponge daubers before using it and then sponged toning Bermuda Bay here and there on top of the resulting embossed areas.
I chose the classy look of the Thank You stamp from the Perfectly Penned stamp set to complete the card.
It really was quick to do - and on this occasion I think less really is more!
Thank you Ladies for the inspiration and idea.
Things I used to make this card:
Stamp set: Perfectly Penned
Inks: Pool Party and Bermuda Bay
Cardstock /paper: Pool Party, Whisper White
Other Essentials : Northern Flurry Embossing folder, sponge daubers, Stampin' Up Trimmer

Well - its back to work for me tomorrow - but then all Mondays seem to come round far too fast for my liking, and given the choice - I would far rather be sat in my little crafting space - blissfully playing with bits of cards stock, stamps and inks.. soon be the weekend - eh?
and if its your first day back too - hopefully it will fly past - which on reflection, was exactly what the whole of 2013 seemed to do and I was always told we should never wish time away...
ah well... til next time - have a lovely week and bye for now

Take one stamp - and you have a custom background
Hello Everyone
We were out on Sunday, having been invited to lunch with some family friends, and with a pile of 'Thank you' sentiments stamp sets still on my desk from a previous session - this made for an easy job deciding on a suitable card for the occasion.
Am thinking I must be in my 'blue period' as Midnight Muse was the only ink pad readily to hand so that made the choice of colour somewhat easier. In fact , really simple - co-ordinating matching cardstock with Whisper White.
I chose the Stippled Blossom 2 step stamp set - but just used the large detailed flower to stamp the image as many times as I needed to cover a piece of the Whisper White card stock - not being fussy as to which way I held the stamp or whether I really filled in the gaps either!
The more I stamped, the better it seemed, and miracously the images all fitted together by the time I had finished. Am still puzzling over that one!
I matted the stamped layer on to a base of some of the Midnight Muse cardstock and matted them both on my Whisper White card base.
I finished the card front with a decorative band and my layered and matted Thank You sentiment from the Perfectly Penned stamp set, popped up as always on my beloved Stampin Up dimensionals.!
I really love the finshed card. So simple, yet so effective.
.... and to keep it all co-ordinated I did just one last repeat of the stamp inside my card and made a matching envelope again with just the one image in the bottom right corner.
I cannot claim any of the credit for this at all and have this lovely lady to thank for the brilliant idea.
Things you need to make this card:
Stamp sets: Stippled Blossom, Perfectly Penned
Inks : Midnight Muse
Cardstock : Whisper White, Midnight Muse
Punches: Border punch
Other essentials: Stampin up Dimensionals

Pennants a-go-go for the birthday boy
My partner's son is about to have a birthday and is going to be 5 and I just thought the bright pennants and sassy happy birthday did the trick! Am hoping he will really love the bright colours. Though must admit, although 'Tempting Turquoise' is just exactly that, am thinking my camera has added an over exposure element all of its own.
....and with a ready made tutor on hand (it is definitely more his line than mine and one camera buff in our house is quite enough I think) but there really is no excuse for my poor photography though. (Must try harder next time)
Inside the card I also placed a little pull out tag and stamped it with the 'Wish big' sentiment from the Pennant Parade stamp set, and am sure he will, given the chance. Am not quite sure of the type of cake planned, but candles will be featured somewhere I have no doubt. So a 'big wish' is very apt when you are just going to be 5.!
Thanks so much to the lovely Heidi (her card here) and Michelle (here) for the inspiration.
One of these days am aiming to make a card all of my own.
Things you will need to make this card:
Stamps: Pennant Parade, Perfectly Penned
Cardstock: Tempting Tuquoise, Whisper white
Inks: Tempting Turquoise, Regal Rose, Old Olive, More Mustard
Punches: Pennant Builder
Other essentials: Stampin Up Paper snips
