'Punch a lot' - or more seriously 'Festival of Trees'

hello all and happy Friday (or what is left of it - as I have just seen the time!)

Uhm my card make today was spurred on by panic - a card of the 'C' variety - well it really isn't too long to go if you think about it  - something like 70-ish days and counting and my mantra of 'I never ever mention the 'C' word til the beginning of October', or 'I am back from my holiday',  which ever is the sooner - means I sort of jumped to it as I realised exactly where we are with the date.

... and with quite a few of the coming weekends already spoken for - starting with a visit to Ally Pally on Sunday for the Knitting and stitching show, and a craft day the last Saturday of the month - time is flying by.. so thought I had better set to work.

Inspired by the current challenge over at S-U Only Challenges where its time to get your punches out (the hand held variety not the flying ones!) I came up with this.

A lovely and simple card  - well,  only 3 different elements in it really,  so hopefully  it also makes the grade over at Simon Says for their current challenge 'Clean and Simple Christmas'

Wonderful wreath Framelits

I used Pool Party card stock from the 'Home for Christmas Card stock Pack as my card base, and an embossed  layer of 'Lucky Stars' for the Whisper White Topper. In honour of  the 'punch it up' challenge I used the 'Tree' punch and matching Festival of Trees stamp set  for the tree detail which I stamped in basic grey. (These are a real bargain as you can buy them both as a cost saving bundle).
When done I decided to pop the middle one, including its little twikly star,  up on dimensionals, just for for a bit of added depth .

The silver Glimmer Paper really does shimmer,  especially when the light catches it and I used this for the stars and matching sentiment. All were die cuts from the Wonderful Wreath Thinlets set. Adhering 'Joy' was aided enormously by Stampin' Up's New Fine Tip Glue Pen - meant I got the glue just where I wanted not where it decided to put it...!  I finished by 'grounding' the trees on a line of  seam binding as I thought it needed something,  but had to improvise having nothing in the Pool Party or Silver colour line.   So opted to finish it with a scrap of  the  now sadly 'retired' Soft Sky ribbon.

and so one very quick card.  What do you think.?

yeah  - Saturday tomorrow and although I work full time - weekends are not normally called for.   So having taken advantage of the lovely weather last weekend and spent it tidying the garden, this weekend I intend to augment my intended Shopping spree at Ally Pally on Sunday,   with a bit of retail therapy in the clothes line tomorrow !"  To quote a well known advert I keep telling himself  'I am worth it'!  (modest as well, eh?)

Until next time
Happy stampin' everyone
